The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) offers full scholarships to students in the newly launched School of Biomedical Sciences. This scholarship is open to students who have received at UNMC in Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences in September this year.

YAYASAN Guru Malaysia Berhad (YGMB) baru-baru ini menandatangani satu memorandum persefahaman (MoU) dengan Metro Driving Academy Sdn. Bhd. (MDA) dalam usaha untuk menyediakan lesen memandu kepada ahli-ahlinya.
Pengerusi Eksekutif Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd. Dom berkata, YGMB akan menawarkan lesen untuk memandu dalam kerjasama dengan institut memandu MDA untuk guru dan pelajar sekolah menengah yang layak di Selangor, Kuala Lumpur dan Putrajaya.
"Kerjasama ini dijalankan selaras dengan kerajaan supaya semua peringkat umur telah diberi peluang dan pendidikan mengenai keselamatan di jalan raya.
"Semoga dengan pengenalan program ini akan membantu memberi pengetahuan dan mengurangkan kadar kemalangan jalan raya yang mencapai status negara maju menjelang 2020," katanya pada majlis di Shah Alam, Selangor, baru-baru ini.

Over the years, The One Academy’s Masters Train Masters coaching philosophy has trained students to outshine their best talent and achieve heightened excellence not just in the classroom, but also in the recognised arena of creativity among aspiring designers to receive world class accolades such as winning the recent creative challenge at Sasaran International Arts Festival.
In line with the national objective to promote homegrown creativity among talented film makes in Malaysia, Sasaran Art Association has organised a short film competition throughout the month of Sasaran International Arts Festival to encourage the creation of short films that will outstand in the national competition and raise social awareness.
Short film is defined as a combination of many art genres. It is also known as ‘experimental art’ where the film maker visualises a story through images, sounds and words. The story filmed is mostly related to our daily life and delivers the message of how one might experience different feelings and thoughts in a given scenario.

PETALING JAYA: The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results are expected to be released on March 22.
“The date is in our management calendar, but the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate (MES) will confirm this nearer the date,” an Education Ministry official said yesterday.
A total of 468,808 candidates sat for the SPM examination at 3,533 centres nationwide from Nov 14 to Dec 14, last year.
Education director-general Datuk Seri Abd Ghafar Mahmud had said that the 2010 SPM results were the best in four years.
He attributed this to the move to cap the number of subjects that a student is allowed to take.
This could be seen from the results based on the grading system, where 363 candidates from government schools and another 40 students from private schools, or private candidates, obtained A+ in all subjects compared with 214 in 2009.

Students Brilliant Achievement ins South Australian Matriculation (SAM) 2011
Ong Lin Eow leaped for great joy when he received his South Australian Matriculation (SAM) 2011 results recently.
He attained Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 99.00, making him the top 1% of all SAM high flyers in the world in that examination.
The brilliant achiever was among the 17 DISTED students who were placed among the top 10% of all SAM achievers within and without Australia for attaining ATAR 90 and above.
The other high achievers included Teo Jia Yong (ATAR 97.05), Yew Chow Ping (ATAR 96.75) and Gan Ker Lynn (ATAR 95.55).
Ong attributed his par excellence achievement to hard work, parental encouragement and inspiration from his lecturers.

PETALING JAYA: It is difficult not only for diploma graduates but also degree-holders to get a job in nursing.
Some have ended up becoming insurance agents, tuition teachers and sales assistants while others are involved in part-time businesses as they wait for a nursing vacancy to open.
Hartini Haron, 25, from Sabah, said she graduated one-and-a-half years ago with a nursing degree from a public university but had yet to get a job in the field even though she had sent in “countless” applications.
“I am disappointed with the whole situation. We studied for four years and now, we can’t even get a job,” she said.
A few of her friends got a nursing job almost a year after completing their studies, said Hartini, who does whatever part-time work that she can get.
Hartini said new graduates with no working experience as a nurse found it tough competing with graduate nurses who had working experience.
Nurses from the Health Ministry who continued their studies for a degree were easily absorbed into the system, she added.

Pinjaman Pendidikan MARA 2012
Kepada para pelajar yang sedang ternanti-nanti untuk Pinjaman Pendidikan MARA 2012, anda kini boleh membuat permohonan. Pinjaman pelajaran MARA 2012 ini telah dibuka kepada pelajar yang layak dan berminat untuk sesi pengajian bermula 2012.
Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) telah membuka permohonan pinjaman pelajaran MARA bagi peringkat pengajian Diploma dan Ijazah untuk mereka yang sedang belajar di institut pengajian tinggi swasta (IPTS) yang terpilih.
Institusi Pengajian
Institusi – institusi pengajian yang diluluskan oleh pihak MARA sahaja akan diberikan keutamaan. Senarai penuh institusi-institusi pengajian tersebut boleh dilihat di bahagian Pendaftaran Pengguna Baru permohonan pinjaman MARA.
Permohonan
Calon-calon yang berminat boleh memohon Pinjaman Pelajaran MARA secara maya atau pun secara manual. Kepada mereka-mereka yang memilih untuk memohon secara maya, sila lawati EduLoan.
Permohonan secara manual boleh dibuat dengan muat turun borang permohonan di EduLoan (ruangan eform). Borang yang telah lengkap di isi perlu dihantar bersama semua dokumen yang diperlukan.
Tarikh Tutup
Tarikh tutup permohonan pinjaman MARA ini akan ditutup pada 15 Februari 2012.

In this scheme, there are two types of loans:

- Students who receive this loan do not have to pay back the loan after graduation IF they agree to be bonded with the government for 10 years.
(b) Pinjaman Biasa- This for students who are pursuing special courses / other courses.
- Students who receive this loan are to pay back the loan after graduation.
Types of courses:
(a) Critical Sectors - medicine, pharmacy and dentistry
(b) Special Sectors - veterinary science, science & technology (except computer science and information technology), engineering (except electrical & electronical, mechanical and civil), architecture / RIBA Part II, accountancy / ACCA
(c) Other Sectors - law, economics, finance / banking / marketing / international business, international relations and communication
Applications will open twice a year:
(a) First session - 1st of February to the 28th of February.
(b) Second session - 1st of July, 2012 to the 31st of July, 2012.

CSRI is a multi-disciplinary research institute at Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) committed to collaborating with distinguished professors from around the world to achieve its vision of being a world-renowned research organisation focusing on the energy and biotechnology needs of the region.
Professor Chan, who holds Bachelor of Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from The University of Hong Kong, is currently the Director of Research in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.
