How to Apply to USM Guide for Students

Thinking about applying to study in USM? The best part is, unlike the other IPTAs, USM has its own application process system for interested and qualified students. Students from  post-Matriculation/Asasi, STPM or Diploma student who wish to continue your studies in USM should refer to the followings simple four (4) step-by-step guides on how to apply to University Sains Malaysia (USM).

Step 1:
a. Very important one, buy a USM pin number from BSN
b. You can buy it via ATM, online banking (through http://www.mybsn.com.my/) or SMS banking system.
c. Check out the nearest BSN ATM branches here: http://www.mybsn.com.my/mybsnweb/ccBranchLocator_add.do

e. The USM pin number will cost RM40 per person
f. You will be given a Unique ID to be use in your application.

Step 2:
a. After all the above (assuming you already have your USM Pin Number) go to USM Online application Portal at http://pohon.usm.my click on “Login Kali Pertama”.
b. Key in your details and USM Pin and you will receive a reference number. You must keep or write down the reference number for future use. Seriously, it is very important and you will need it especially at Step 3.

Step 3:
a. Login with your Reference Number and Passwordto apply for your course.
b. Here is the best part. Students from Matriculation/Asasi UiTM/PASUM and STPM students are allowed to apply for up to eight (8) courses.
c. Students from Diploma or equivalent are allowed to apply for up to four (4) courses. Only courses that you have choose will be offered to you. Refer here for a list of the courses offered at USM and their entry requirements, Visit the link: https://pohon.usm.my/default.asp?daftar=19

Step 4:
The final steps is apply for the MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITY SELECTION INVENTORY (MUnSyI) Test. This is one of the most important part. All candidates are required to sit for the MUnSyI test to qualify for USM.
