IBBM collaborates to launch Chartered Banker Education Pathway programme

KUCHING: The Institute of Bankers Malaysia (IBBM) in collaboration with the Chartered Banker Institute (Chartered Banker), Scotland and Bangor University, Wales launched the Chartered Banker Education Pathway, offering qualification and MBA programmes to Malaysian banking professionals.

The memorandum of understanding (MoUs) signing ceremony held yesterday, was officially witnessed by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) deputy governor Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus, it said in a
press release.

IBBM was represented at the signing by its chairman, Tan Sri Azman Hashim and chief executive Tay Kay Luan. The other representatives included Chartered Banker chief executive Simon Thompson and from Bangor University head of the college of business Professor Phil Molyneaux; managing director Phil Ryan and consultant director Professor Ted Gardener.

IBBM would be collaborating with these two institutes to develop and launch its ‘Chartered Banker Education Pathway’ to offer the Chartered Banker qualification and the Chartered Banker MBA programme to Malaysian banking professionals.

In his welcome address, Tan Sri Azman stated that the Chartered Banker Education Pathway was in line with IBBM’s strategic goal to “build capacity by delivering world class qualifications that are relevant and aligned to the career development of banking professionals in the Malaysian financial services industry”.

Development of the programme was estimated to take about a year and IBBM expected its first intake for the foundation level of the qualification to be open in the third quarter of 2012.

Tan Sri Azman further said IBBM’s partnership with the school would also pave the way for the  collaboration in research, exchange of teaching and learning expertise and content development for conferences, seminars and thought leadership events in Malaysia. – TheBorneoPost.com
