Powertek Scholarship Awards to 23 Students

Powertek Awards Scholarships To 23 Students
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 (Bernama) — Powertek Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tanjong Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd, has awarded scholarships worth RM994,000 to 23 students under the inaugural Tanjong Energy Scholarship Awards 2011 (TESA).

Its Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Ong Peng Su said with TESA, the company is able to better manage its role in offering educational opportunities, to bright and deserving Malaysian students.

“Malaysia’s youth are the nation’s greatest assets in terms of driving economic growth.
“Enabling them to pursue their passions will ensure that they go the extra miles to achieve their goals while building and refining their talent to contribute to the country’s development,” he told reporters after the scholarship awards presentation here, today.

The scholarships were presented by Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui

Ong said there were no restrictions in terms of courses as TESA scholars can pursue their studies in any discipline of their choice.

“This scholarship is a way for underprivileged students to build a better and brighter future for themselves and their families,” he added.

TESA is a consolidation of two scholarship programmes, the Powertek Scholarship Award and Tanjong Scholarship Award.

It is also a corporate responsibility initiative, open to deserving Malaysian students, pursuing their higher education at Universiti Tenaga Nasional and local public universities.
