The Program awards fellowships by invitation to young scholars and analysts to conduct advanced research at JIIA.
Scholars and researchers in the field of international political and security issues who work in institutes, think tanks and universities.
6 months (between 1 October 2012 and 31 March 2013)
a. We will invite a fellow from ASEAN, CIS, Middle Eastern or neighbouring counties this year
b. Applicants must be scholars and researchers in the field of international political security issues and be at least Master degree holders or PhD candidates
c. Applicants must be no more than 45 years of age.
d. Persons who either previously received a JIIA Fellowship or who presently reside in Japan are not eligible
e. Applicants should currently be employed (applicants should get advance permission to be absent from their offices)
f. Applicants should have the ability to write report in English or Japanese
g. Applicants must be in good health
h. In principle,applicants must be able to stay continuously in Japan during the term of the fellowship
JIIA Fellows (applicants) are expected to conduct research activities at JIIA on topics within JIIA’s purview that have some connection to Japan , Such as foreign policy and international political issues
