Psychometric Test Be Used To Recruit New Teachers. Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin which is also the Minister of Education on Wednesday recommended that psychometric test be utilized as a criteria to select new educators or teachers.

Muhyiddin, who is Malaysian Education Minister said, the proposed criteria was to guarantee a type of teacher who were more qualified not just in having superb results in their first degree level but from healthy and positive spiritual viewpoint. Psychometric test be used to recruit new teachers is indeed a very good initiative and should be implemented soonest possible.

“I’m expecting that the Education Service Commission (SPP) to have an identity appraisal through the psychometric test for every single teaching graduate as a starting point in screening for their appointment process,” he said when officiating the 2015 Education Service Conference here.

Muhyiddin said,  in the past entry section into teaching degree program (PISMP) was stringent as the applicants must got five outstanding results in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) to be qualified to take the educator qualification test (UKCG) and seven to join the Program Pelajar Cemerlang (PPC).

He said with the proposed criteria, PISMP and PPC appilcants would graduate with high knowledged control including the physical and spiritual viewpoints.

In the mean time Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem asked for more teaching manpower from the state be expanded to top off the shortage in polytechnics and community colleges.

“I trust the quantity of educators from Sarawak for polytechnics and community colleges in the state is expanded,” he said.

Psychometric test for recruitment of new teachers will be a good thing to go ahead. The plan to use psychometric test be used to recruit new teachers in Malaysia should be the next best thing in our education sector.
