MOHE fines 4 Colleges for going against moratorium

Finally, colleges who do not adhere the directive and regulation were fined by Minister of Higher Education (MOHE) of Malaysia.

The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) is taking action against 4 private colleges for offering new Nursing Diploma courses despite an outstanding moratorium since July 2010.

In 2010, the government imposed up a temporary prohibition on the setting up of new nursing colleges which offer diplomas in nursing as a step to address the oversupply of nurses in the country.

The four colleges which were fined are: Lincoln University College, Kolej Seri Manjung, Institut Teknologi Lanjutan Sarawak and International College of Health Sciences.

The colleges were fined between RM10,000 and RM60,000.
